When I began using Sheepshaver, I had lots of trouble with apps appearing as plain document files.

One last point may be worth mentioning, although it may not apply to your situation.
#SHEEPSHAVER GAME AUDIO CD UPDATE#
I´ll update the OP somewhat to reflect this. I´m farily certain that they all came with Stuffit Expander.
#SHEEPSHAVER GAME AUDIO CD MAC OS#
I´m sure I´ll find a Mac OS 8 or 8.5 or 9 CD at my parents, plus they I believe lots of old MacFormat CDs in a dresser in their loft. Unfortunately as per Jables' post and my experiences using BetterZip, it seems clear now that I won´t be able to get neither an "externally un-binhexed" game installer, nor any version of Stuffit Expander sitting in a plain folder, if I´ll have to copy it from my PC, into the emulated Mac intact.īut no worries. Fortunately I believe I have access to old CDs from which I´ll finally be able to get a working version of Stuffit Expander into the emuator.
#SHEEPSHAVER GAME AUDIO CD ARCHIVE#
I have tried to extract the installer from the archive with the Windows version of Stuffit Expander, but when I bring the file into the emulated Mac, the system thinks it is only a document, and not an application.ĮDIT: While I have now several old versions of Stuffit Expander sitting on my PC, and also have access to tools for unextracting game installer archives outside of the Mac environment, it seems clear that these unarchived files won´t survive being copyied into the emulated Mac.įiles need to be "binhexed" to survive the PC-Mac transfer, but without a working version of the expander already present in the Mac, I´m screwed.

With a link to an installer for Stuffit Expander 7.0, in a. bin archives.ĭoes anyone have an old version of Stuffit Expander lying around? I believe any version prior to version 8 would be fine.

I too have been searching for this game forever, hope this helps.I´ve set up Sheepsaver on my PC in order to run som classic Mac games from my youth, but I have problems installing games contained in. You have to go under the apple to control panel, then to sound and choose "built in" under output. This is all the audio information or preferences SheepShaver is offering me and the only sound-related options in the OS 9 window at all is the volume bar.
#SHEEPSHAVER GAME AUDIO CD HOW TO#
I am dying to play this game as I haven't in about 10 years, me and my siblings have been hunting it down for that entire time (yes, a decade), but it refuses to open unless I allocate a sound channel and I am struggling to find out how to do so my audio preferences on SheepShaver are as follows: Try to restart (hold Shift down) with extentions off." Got Sheepshaver up and running and Grunt is in the shared folder between my OS 9 and OS X partitions, however whenever I try to open Grunt I'm told that it "Couldn't allocate a sound channel. Hey guys, downloaded that Grunt zip and also got a copy of SheepShaver (the OS 9 emulator) so I can actually play the game on my OS X. I just approved you so you should be good to go. It could be because your first post has to be approved by moderators (we do this to improve the effectiveness of catching spammers to 99%). (I do not know if this e-mail address is still valid.) The documentation for the game also specified an entity called "FORMAC SOFTWARE" that had an address in Los Angeles, California. The game was authored by Farhad Akhmetov and Mark Chetverikov, and the specified e-mail contact information for Farhad Akhmetov was FarhadA104 at aol dot com. (For that matter, the game also had a pretty good music track.) Among other places, the game was included on a CD-ROM disc that came with the book "Tricks of the Mac Game Programming Gurus." This book was published by Hayden Books in 1995. The game's story involved retrieving the fragments of a magic jewel that had been scattered throughout a castle. On the MacOS platform, some years ago, there was a platform-based game called "GRUNT" that involved a pig. It was 2D and was made by company from California. You had to go from room to room collecting keys and weapons upgrades. It played a lot like mario, but you were a pig.
#SHEEPSHAVER GAME AUDIO CD FOR MAC OS#
It's a really old game for Mac OS 7 or 8.
